GETTING SIDE TRACKED!

I recently had a gal email me a few pictures of some quilts she wanted made for her children.  No pattern just pictures.

This is the first one I came up with and I have to say, this was soooooooooooooooooooooooo fun.  I think the reason it was fun because it showcases the fabrics...and we all know how much we love fabric...and it is pink.

Here is the other one.  The top is finished now but it is not in this picture.  I just put a border on it of 3 inches.  In the picture it  looks like it has 1 1/2" borders.    She wanted the girls to have matching fabrics.

To be honest, I would have already had these done but I got a free book on my kindle "The Key" by Jennifer Anne Davis.  Oh my gosh, I read the first book and had to have the second and then the third.  It is
The True Reign Series."
As you can tell I have not been very productive lately.
I know the way Amazon gets you to purchase books is to give you the first book of a series free...usually I just read the first book and that is that (call me cheap...call me whatever) but this time I just had to have the other two.
I think there may be two questionable parts but to be honest I just flipped the page before it gave me a chance to see if it really was questionable.
I know....call me a prude...or a cheap prude but I don't like the authors invading my mind (personal space) with cheap trash.
It is a shame because I will be reading a good book and along comes a part that truly didn't even make the book any better but just invaded my space....I always flip through it but now if it even starts to suggest something I am outta there.
I also have been getting books from "The midst" but I have found that most of them are romance novels and to be honest (wow...I am so honest today).  I don't like cheap romance.  I am a historical fiction type a gal.

Today I am going to be productive....HA!!!!

QUILTED IN HONOR BY ISLAND BATIK - free pattern

If you read the post below, you will know that these gorgeous fabrics were delivered to me on Friday!!!

I say, OH MY STINKING GOSH!!!!

I just couldn't help myself, I had to use up these awesome fabrics....

I got out my Latte Foam fabrics as well and added to the Quilted in Honor.  I didn't have enough Island Batik fabric for the border so I used another type of batik.

Can I say that I soooooooooooooooo love these fabrics!!!!

I wish you could see it up close and personal....truly do.  Now the whites are mixed colors but look solid.

There is only one square involved:

One sqaure 7 1/2" or you can make it larger if you want, I wish I had made mine larger like 9 1/2" square
One strip 2 1/2" by 7 1/2", sew to the square

One strip 2 1/2" by  9 1/2" sew across the top which makes a 9 1/2" square.

There are 35 squares, five across and seven down.  You just flip flop the squares.  I only had seven half yards but eight would be great giving you a larger quilt.

WHAT A WAY TO TOP OFF A DAY!!!

Finished these two quilts today.  I love this pattern so much because it is easy and goes really fast.  I just had to make two.

Then I received this package in the mail....do you know what it is?

Inside was some....precuts......do you know who this is from now?

Hummm maybe this will help.  Quilted in Honor fabrics and they are Batiks....  You can go here for some free patterns

If you guessed Island Batik, YOUR ARE RIGHT!!!!

Such awesome fabrics, I am so excited.  Notice that these fabrics are bright bright bright....oh yesssss
right up my alley.

Have a great week-end!!!

ORANGE YOU GLAD IT IS WEDNESDAY?

Actually my days just blend into the next.

I was asked to do two quilst for twins, a boy and a girl.  I had this Hula boy and girl dancer fabric and thought that would be perfect.

The block is from "Sew One and Your're Done" by Evelyn Slopppy.  I love this book, I have made a few of the quilts and have enjoyed it each time.  The best thing is that the quilts go fast.
Here is the back of the green one, wouldn't you know that I had to have just a smidge more fabric??  The orange one is done the same way.
Here is another orange quilt.  I just love it, this picture does not do it justice.

So as you can tell I have been very busy.  When I was at JoAnn's the other day I said...."Barb, you need to get you some more white Sulky Thread #944-1071".  I thought I  had plenty, This is the large spool and thought it would take me months to get through it.  I love to quilt with this thread, hardly any fuzz and breakage.
Well.............
I ran out yesterday night as I was quilting the green quilt above.
So...I used Coat & Clark's white T35 and I was really surprised how well it did.  No breakage at all and little fuzz. (no this was not a paid announcement)  sounds like it doesn't it.

You have just got to see this....so clever!!!

This is a placemat.  You color in the lines....it is so clever  You just have to go over to Splitting Stitches  she is having a giveaway but to be honest....I am not posting this to win (it would be nice but...) I just think it is one of the most clever things I have seen in a long time.

So...hop on over there and see her other placemats and just see for yourself how clever she is.

I didn't ask to use her picture.....my hands may be slapped...

NOT SO QUILTY POST

Here is a new Hand Towel and Hot Pad design.  This hot pad was using a wash cloth that matches the towel.

Here it is you you don't have the wash cloth and just use fabrics.  This design will take no time at all...so fast and fun.
I made curtains the other day for my laundry room.  As you can see, the Laundry Runner or wall hanging is finally on the wall.  I love half curtains so the outside still comes in but leaves privacy.
This is my bathroom curtain....I am hoping to make a rug that matches it.
Decided to replace the old material in these baskets with material that matches the curtains.  Needless to say I just love the new looks in my home.  So does my husband, he keep commenting on them both.

What next?  Hummmmmm

NEW PLAY PRETTY

Here is my new play pretty....she is just awesome...no scratches...nothing.

You can close your mouth, I see the jaw dropping.

Yes....I know I sold  all but one of my machines before moving.

Now I have three.  Was that a snicker I heard?  Don't judge me.

I needed a machine that I could carry to church or when I go to the quilting group that meets on Tuesdays.

We are starting up sewing classes at church...and I just didn't want to lug my big machine or share my machine (Okay, so the true me is coming out).

So I admit it.....my pfaff is my baby and well....you never know how someone is going to treat your machine.  There I said it....

Been busy making these placemats.  I have a gal that wants 16 different Christmas placemats.  I have eleven made.  I am so glad she said different, it would be a yawner if she had.
